Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar disorder (also called manic depression) often manifests itself with a wide variety of symptoms including: anxiety, rapid or unexplained mood changes, depression, irritability, risk-taking and ADHD-like symptoms of poor concentration and racing thoughts. Contrary to popular belief, patients do not usually feel “high” or “on top of the world” but rather anxious, sped up and uncomfortable. Fortunately, this complex illness is becoming increasingly well-understood.

If you have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, or have mood changes that you think may be symptoms of bipolar disorder, a psychiatric consultation may help bring clarity and relief. I offer treatment with medication and/or psychotherapy to help patients control their symptoms, follow a lifestyle that promotes mood stability, and repair the disruption that mood changes can cause.
